Guwahati (Assam) [India], August 31 (ANI): Aiming to promote science-related activities among the student community and people of the state, the Assam government, for the first time, will organise a Science Fair during the biennial conference of Assam Sahitya Sabha.
Assam Panchayat Rural & Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass told ANI that, the 77th Biennial Conference of Assam Sahitya Sabha will be held at Pathsala and will start on 31 January 2025 and will be continued till 4 February 2025.
“During its biennial conference, the Assam Sahitya Sabha earlier had organised the trade fair. But this time we will organise a Science Fair and it will create an environment and the students will also benefit from it,” Ranjeet Kumar Dass said.
“We have discussed with the Science and Technology Department Minister Keshab Mahanta to organise the Science Fair. The Science and Technology Department and its allied departments will also help. We have also contacted with Oil Museum, Railways, IIT Guwahati, Dibrugarh University, Assam Agriculture University and other organisations,” he added.
He further said that the student community of the state will benefit from this Science Fair.
“We will organise this as a part of the initiatives taken by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. There are as many as 30-40 scientists from the Bajali area who are now working outside and we also get good responses from them. A large number of students will also participate. Various science-related activities will also be done during the 5-day long conference,” Ranjeet Kumar Dass said.
Assam Sahitya Sabha is the biggest and oldest literary organisation of the state which was founded in 1917.
