Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 4 (ANI): Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Narayanan Thirupathy hit out at the Chief Minister over the all-party meeting called on delimitation and the three-language policy row, accusing the MK Stalin of trying to divert people to “hide the failure of his government in the last four years.
Speaking to ANI, Thirupathy said, “It is an unwanted meeting. He is trying to hide the failure of his government in the last four years–the deteriorating law and order, violence against women.”
“The governance is totally mismanaged. Stalin is trying to divert people by bringing up all these issues. The people of Tamil Nadu are well aware,” he added.
Notably, Chief Minister MK Stalin convened an all-party meeting on the issue on March 5.
Earlier, Stalin confirmed that invitations for the all-party meeting would be sent to the 40 political parties registered with the Election Commission of India (ECI) in Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, DMK leader Kanimozhi said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had raised a very valid and important concern regarding the proposed delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies and that people wanted to know on what basis the exercise would be carried out.
She stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks that Tamil Nadu would not lose seats had only added to the confusion.
“The DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has raised a very valid and important concern regarding delimitation after the census. If the delimitation is done on a population basis, then states like Tamil Nadu, which have controlled population growth, will lose seats, while states with uncontrolled population growth, like UP or Bihar, will gain more seats. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was in Coimbatore recently, and he said that Tamil Nadu will not lose seats pro rata, but his remarks have created more confusion than clarity,” she added. (ANI)
